Chapter Two of ROP!

Finally finished my chapter two today! Bleh it took forever....

But, it's now done! Here's a sneak peak:

“Chrisaline Marie Everette!” barked Dad from his study just as I was setting my bags in front of the main foyer’s door. I frowned, dropping my purse on top of my suitcase and looking for the location of the noise. My dad had more than just one study. Part of being a governor or something. “Chrisaline!” the voice bellowed louder.

“Yes, Dad?” I called back, staring at the double mahogany doors a few yards from me. One of them was cracked open a smidge, wafting the aroma of cigarette smoke and fresh coffee out to me.

“Get in here! Now!”

My eyes widened at the slicing venom of his voice. I left my stuff, moving as fast as possible to the big study’s door. When I reached it, the nervous feeling clamping around my stomach became worse. What was this about?
I took a deep breath, my hand locking around the silver door knob. It felt like ice beneath my fingertips.
Come on, Chrissie. Just get this over with and leave. Come on.

My hand pulled the door back and I stepped through. Shelves beyond shelves of dusty textbooks lined every wall, all centering around the huge, circular, and official-looking desk resting above a navy-and-gold-accented carpet in the middle of the farthest wall. I took another step in, my eyes absorbing my dad as he pounded away at a keyboard for his shining-silver Apple desktop. His grey-streaked, dark brown hair was gelled back into place, making him look like the perfect CEO of some expensive company.
I took one more breath, then walked all the way in to the front of his desk. He swiveled in his black leather chair, glaring at me with piercing green eyes over thin wire bifocals.
